Destini has been founded by carers who have been working with children and young people for over 30 years combined. We are driven to make a difference and provide a quality service. We are driven by hard outcomes and the life-changing testimonies that come with this. We provide Residential Children’s Homes, and we deliver a child-centred approach, working alongside young people to support their development, growth, and confidence.
Our home is set in a beautiful location and has been purposely selected for the needs of our young people. The age range of the children will be between 4-14 years and a mixture of Gender. The property is a 4 bedded home, which consists of a staff sleep in room and 3 children’s bedrooms. Young people will have access to communal lounge areas where they can watch TV, play games, and read books provided. Our homes have been designed to feel like a family home and avoid an institutional feel.
The Home has been furnished to a high standard. It is decorated throughout with comfortable and modern furnishings. The home contains all the amenities associated with modern life – central heating; fitted Kitchen with fridge freezer, washer and dryer; adequate shower facilities.
Each young person will have their own spacious bedroom, furnished to a high standard with adequate storage space.
Young people are encouraged to take ownership of their bedroom through their choice of bedding, posters, pictures, books and personal items. Keys will be provided to their bedrooms on an age dependant basis.
The home has good links to bus routes into and around the local area. There are a number of recreational activities that can be accessed as well as clubs that can promote positive social inclusion; all within walking distance or a short bus journey.
From design stage, we have worked to create an environment that will allow as many opportunities as possible for us to support recovery and enhance emotional regulation. For us to operate a home that feels safe for children we need to ensure that trauma responsive approaches are adopted in all elements of our practice. This includes creating a calming homely experience for children and young people in our care.

We want our homes to be a place of safety for children, a sanctuary or haven where they can feel free to express themselves without fear of rejection or being hurt.
We will adopt a therapeutic environment to support recovery, soft furnishings and materials will be used to create a full calming sensory experience for children in our care, we will encourage a varied diet and old-fashioned home baking, along with pamper sessions encouraging self-worth and care. Our properties will be decorated with earth, neutral calming colours that provide a homely feel. Comforts such as slippers and cosy blankets are all part of the package we provide. We want to minimise the number of emotional outbursts for children and young people by creating an environment that encourages positive expression and when there are emotions running high, we adopt an approach of enabling self-soothing techniques and working through each incident with the child. The only time we ever want to use our restraint policy is when it is unavoidable for safety reasons.
